Los Angeles, USA, Nov 9 (EFE) – The Recording Academy of the USA is set to announce the nominations for the 66th Grammy Awards this Friday, with all eyes on artists like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Miley Cyrus, as well as Latin music figures such as Karol G and Shakira.

After Beyoncé made history at the last Grammy Awards as the artist with the most Grammy awards (32), it seems that the 2024 ceremony, scheduled for February 4th, will have a strong female presence.

The specialized press highlights names like Swift, Cyrus, Rodrigo, and SZA as potential frontrunners for nominations at a ceremony that will once again take place at the Crypto.com Arena, home to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Swift, a 12-time Grammy winner, hopes that her album “Midnights,” released in October 2022 before her successful international tour “The Eras Tour,” will earn her nominations for the top categories: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo, who has been nominated seven times in her short career and already has three awards, aspires to make a triumphant return with her album “Guts,” which includes acclaimed tracks like “Vampire.”

SZA’s second studio album, “SOS,” is also a strong contender for Album of the Year after topping the Billboard 200 chart for ten weeks and competing with Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” at the BET Awards, which honor African American artists.

The Album of the Year race also includes favorites like rappers Drake and 21 Savage with “Her Loss,” the trio Boygenius with “The Record,” Lana Del Rey with “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” and the rock band Foo Fighters with “But Here We Are.”

Miley Cyrus stands out in the Record of the Year category with her popular song “Flowers” from the album “Endless Summer Vacation.”

The Record of the Year category recognizes producers, singers, sound engineers, and other team members, while the Song of the Year is dedicated to all the songwriters of a track.

SZA’s single “Kill Bill” is also a strong contender, along with songs like “Lift Me Up” by Rihanna, “Anti-Hero” by Taylor Swift, “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2” by PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, and the new version of “Fast Car,” originally by Tracy Chapman and now performed by Luke Combs.

Cyrus, Swift, SZA, Rihanna, and the other songwriters of the aforementioned tracks also have a good chance of being nominated for Song of the Year.

In the Latin music categories, Colombian artist Karol G, who released her album “Mañana será bonito” this year, and her compatriot Shakira, who broke records with the track “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” are among the top contenders for nominations.

The nominations will be revealed this Friday at 7:45 AM on the US West Coast (15:45 GMT) through a live event that can be watched on the official website and YouTube channel of the Recording Academy of the United States.

The 66th Grammy Awards will include three new categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Pop Dance Recording, and Best Alternative Jazz Album.

The organization has stated that music created using artificial intelligence in its production process will not be considered. EFE
