There was a dog named **Spot** who lived with his family in a small apartment in the city. Spot was a very good and loving dog. He always stayed close to his owners and played with the other dogs in the neighborhood.
This year, Spot was turning 1 year old. His owners had planned a big birthday party for him. They had bought a cake, food, drinks, and even a new outfit for Spot.
On the morning of his birthday, Spot woke up early. He was excited for his birthday party. However, when Spot went downstairs, he was very disappointed to see that no one was there. Spot’s owners were still at work, and the other dogs in the neighborhood were all at school.
Spot sat sadly in the living room. He had thought he was going to have a fun birthday party, but now he was all alone.
Suddenly, Spot heard a knock at the door. He ran to open it and saw another dog standing there. The other dog looked very happy to see Spot. He said,
“Happy birthday”
Spot was surprised. He had never seen the other dog before. The other dog said,
“My name is **Smudge**. I’m your neighbor. I heard it was your birthday, so I came here to wish you a happy birthday.”
Spot was very happy to have a friend come to his birthday party. He and Smudge played together all day. They ran around in the yard, played hide-and-seek, and told each other funny stories.
Spot had a very happy birthday, even though only Smudge came to wish him a happy birthday. He knew that Smudge was a good friend, and he would always cherish their friendship.
At the end of the day, Spot’s owners came home from work. They were very surprised to see that Spot had a birthday party. They apologized for not being there for him, and they promised to make it up to him.
The next day, Spot’s owners threw him a surprise birthday party. They invited all of Spot’s friends, and they had a lot of fun. Spot was so happy to have so many people to celebrate his birthday with.
Spot learned a valuable lesson that day. He learned that even if only one person shows up to your birthday party, it’s still a special day. He also learned that it’s important to have good friends who will always be there for you, no matter what.
